Getting in touch

There is no contact form on this site, deliberately. Under the Privacy Act 2020 the cleanest position for a site that collects nothing is to collect nothing at all, so email is the only channel. A reply usually follows within two business days.

Editorial

Corrections and content questions

An indicative band that has drifted, a machine class described wrongly, a broken link, or a claim that needs a better source. Corrections are welcome and are acted on quickly, because a money page that is wrong is worse than one that does not exist.

[email protected]

Partnerships

Lender and referral enquiries

This site refers to a single finance partner, Prospa, and that relationship is disclosed on every page. Editorial coverage is independent and unpaid, and no lender can buy a mention in a guide. Enquiries are read even so.

Finance applications

This site is not a lender or a broker

Equipmentfinance.org.nz cannot quote a rate, support an application, or make a finance decision, and email enquiries asking for any of those cannot be answered. The calculator on the home page produces an indicative figure, and its handoff reaches Prospa, who assess and decide.

Approaching a lender directly is equally valid, and the guide to what lenders assess sets out what an application usually needs either way.

Corrections

What happens to one

A correction is read, checked against the primary source the page cites, and either applied or answered with an explanation of why the original stands. Where a page is changed, its last-reviewed date moves and that date is visible on the page and in the sitemap, so a reader can see that something was revised rather than having to take it on trust.

The corrections most worth sending are factual ones. An indicative band that no longer reflects the market, a regulatory reference that has been superseded, a machine class described in a way somebody who works with them would not recognise, or a claim that reads as more certain than the evidence behind it. All four have real consequences for a reader making a purchase decision, and all four are the kind of thing a practitioner spots immediately and a writer does not.

Disagreements about emphasis are welcome too and are treated differently. Where two experienced people would describe the same market differently, the page usually needs to acknowledge both rather than pick one, and that is a useful thing to be told.

Response times

What to expect, and when

A reply usually follows within two business days. Corrections that can be verified against a linked primary source are commonly actioned faster than that, because the check is quick and leaving an error up while a reply is drafted helps nobody. Corrections that require a judgement, such as whether an indicative band still reflects the market, take longer because the honest answer involves looking at what the market is actually doing rather than at what the page currently says.

Partnership enquiries are read and are answered honestly, which frequently means declining. This site refers to one finance partner and that relationship is disclosed on every page. Adding a second would be a commercial decision with editorial consequences, and it is not something that happens because an approach was well written.

What will not get a useful reply is a request for a rate, a quote, an application, or help with a lenderโ€™s decision. None of those are things this site is able to do, and an honest short answer saying so is more use than a slow one that pretends otherwise.

Suggestions

Machine classes and guides worth adding

This site covers eleven classes of equipment and five sectors, which is a deliberate starting point rather than a complete map of New Zealand plant. Suggestions for what is missing are genuinely useful, particularly from people who finance the equipment in question, because the gap between what looks important from the outside and what matters to somebody buying the machine is usually where the useful pages are.

The same applies to the guides. Where a question comes up repeatedly in a trade and is answered nowhere sensible, that is worth knowing about. What will not be added is anything that would need a claim this site cannot substantiate, which rules out live rate comparisons and lender rankings however often they are asked for.

Privacy

What happens to an email

An email sent here is read and replied to and is not added to any list, because there is no list. This site runs no newsletter, no lead capture and no contact form, and it holds no database of readers. Consistent with the Privacy Act 2020, the cleanest position for a site that has no need to collect personal information is to collect none.

The calculator reinforces that rather than working around it. It runs entirely in the browser, nothing is transmitted, and the handoff to our finance partner carries a partner tracking parameter and nothing about the reader. Anything supplied to a lender is supplied to that lender on its own site, under its own privacy policy.

Who publishes this

Editorial responsibility

Content on Equipmentfinance.org.nz is written and reviewed by Matt Stiles, Editor. Every guide carries a named author and a last-reviewed date on the page itself, because on a money topic the identity of whoever stands behind the content is part of what a reader is entitled to see. The about page sets out the editorial standards those reviews are held to.

Disclaimer

Indicative content only. Not personalised financial advice.

Financing a machine is a commitment that runs for years, and the repayments come out of the same operating cash flow as everything else. Modelling the weekly and monthly cost against the working-capital position before committing is what this site is built for. Borrowing at a level that stays comfortable through a quiet quarter, rather than only through a strong one, is widely regarded as the safer frame.

What this site is

A calculator and information tool. Not a lender, not a broker, not a registered financial adviser. Nothing here is personalised financial advice.

What the figures show

Modelled estimates based on the inputs shown. Not a quote. Not an offer of credit. Not a guarantee of approval, rate or fees.

What the lender decides

Final rates, fees, and approval are set by the lender after a CCCFA-appropriate assessment of the applicant's circumstances and credit decision.

Commercial disclosure

Equipmentfinance.org.nz earns a commission from Prospa when a visitor applies through this site and their application is approved. The commission is paid by Prospa, not by the borrower, and it does not influence the rate Prospa offers. Full disclosure on the partner page.

Tax, GST, and accountant framing

Tax-treatment statements (GST claim timing, interest deductibility, depreciation rates) are general in nature and subject to the accountant's confirmation on the specific business position. For material amounts, professional advice from a registered financial adviser or chartered accountant is widely regarded as the safer frame.

Important information

About this site, the figures, and your protections.

Last reviewed 7 September 2026.

1. What this site is

Equipmentfinance.org.nz is a New Zealand education site and a free repayment calculator. It is not a lender, not a broker, and not a registered financial adviser. We do not arrange credit, hold client money, or provide regulated financial advice as defined under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 Part 6 or the Financial Services Legislation Amendment Act 2019. Nothing on this site is personalised financial advice.

2. The calculator and figures

All numbers shown by the calculator, in worked examples, and across the site are indicative only and modelled from the inputs entered. The figures are not a quote, not an offer of credit, and not a guarantee of the rate, fees, term, or approval available to any specific business. Final pricing, fees, and approval are set by the lender after the lender's own credit assessment.

3. General information, not advice

Content on this site is general information (class information). It does not take into account the financial situation, objectives, or needs of any particular business or person. Before making a borrowing decision, professional advice from a licensed Financial Advice Provider, a chartered accountant, or a solicitor is widely regarded as the safer frame, particularly where amounts are material or the borrowing involves a personal guarantee.

4. Commercial relationship with Prospa

When a calculator user clicks "see if you qualify", the application hands off to Prospa, our New Zealand SME finance partner. Equipmentfinance.org.nz earns a referral commission from Prospa when a referred application converts to a funded loan. The commission is paid by Prospa, not by the borrower, and does not change the rate, fees, or terms Prospa offers the business. We do not claim Prospa is the cheapest or best lender for every applicant. Full disclosure is on our partner page.

5. Tax, GST, and accountant framing

Tax-treatment statements (GST claim timing, interest deductibility, depreciation rates) on this site are general in nature and subject to confirmation by the accountant on the specific business position. For material amounts, professional tax advice from a chartered accountant is widely regarded as the safer frame. Inland Revenue is the primary source for any specific NZ tax-treatment question.

6. Privacy and personal information

Consistent with the Privacy Act 2020, we do not run lead-capture forms on this site. Calculator inputs stay in the browser and are not transmitted to a server we control. We use Google Analytics 4 for aggregate, non-personal traffic data only. When a visitor clicks through to Prospa they leave our site, and Prospa's privacy policy applies. The Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (CCCFA) framework applies at the lender level where a sole trader's borrowing is wholly or predominantly for personal use, or where a personal guarantor is involved.

7. Fair dealing posture

This site operates under the fair-dealing requirements of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 Part 2 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. We avoid misleading or deceptive conduct, false representations, and unsubstantiated claims. Numeric or regulatory claims are hedged or sourced to a primary New Zealand authority such as Inland Revenue, MBIE, the Companies Office, WorkSafe, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Stats NZ, the Commerce Commission or the Financial Markets Authority.

8. Limitation of liability and governing law

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Equipmentfinance.org.nz, its operators and its contributors are not liable for any loss or damage (direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise) arising from use of the site or reliance on its content, indicative figures, or third-party information. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes are to be resolved in New Zealand courts.
